To navigate between two cultures; to navigate the straits of loss, deep sadness, and joy; to limn, in full complexity and richness, what it means to be wife, lover, mother, doubter, believer; to do all this so effectively and with such extraordinary economy of language, the exact word or phrase seeming always to appear here as if by magic—well, as the title suggests, and as the author shows in poem after wonderful poem, such accomplishment demands character. This is art at its most moving and deft. -Sydney Lea, Author of GHOST PAIN |
